In this compilation episode of the InFlow Podcast, I reflect on my role as a business leader. I hope that you take away some value as you continue on your own leadership journey.
How To Thrive as a Business Leader
Working all out in your business is essential to success as a business leader. However, when you are ALL IN – working in and on your business with all your mind, heart, and soul – it can be challenging to take a step back and get perspective.
Your job as a business leader is to be a time traveler for those you lead. You have to know where you come from, where you are in the moment, and where you are headed in the future. Without this awareness of the past, present, and future, it is impossible to plan, implement and course-correct when needed.
Effective business leaders need to be in a position to see the bigger picture at all times. To achieve this level of analytical awareness, you have to remain focused on your goals at all times. There are so many distractions that can take you away from this critical work. It is, therefore, your responsibility to get in line and stay in line.
Taking time to reflect
As you may know, Jack, Sophia, and I are currently on a much-needed month-long ‘work-ation’ in Maui, Hawaii. This is a very precious time for us as a family and for Jack and I as business leaders. If you would like to join me on my journey, follow me on Instagram!
Being a business leader is arduous work that demands that you bring your ‘A-Game’ every day. It is exhilarating but also exhausting.
The first step to ensuring that you are actively working on your role as a leader is to take care of yourself. You are the most critical asset in your business, so you need to treat yourself as a valuable and finite resource!
I am pleased to say that I have invested deeply in myself over the last few days. I have nurtured my body with the best nutrition and sleep. I have also disconnected from all of my devices (as scary as that feels) and reconnected with myself and my family.
I am now cleansed, rested, and feeling my best. So, I am in the best possible position to start the journey of introspection demanded of responsible business leaders.
This process means taking a step back and really delving into the past and present of my business, so I have the insight needed to travel into the future.
It is with this in mind that I reflect on the last six episodes of the InFlow Podcast.
